New Year Reflections

It’s already 2025!!! Can’t believe it.

The new year begins. We are all deep in thought, reflecting on what we have achieved in 2024 and what we want to accomplish in the new year.

I find it interesting how we anticipate the new year as if it’s going to change anything for us. I think us humans like to think of it as an automatic switch and therefore a natural change in ourselves, but I feel that to be (almost) false. Don’t get me wrong, I find myself hoping for a new beginning as well, a new routine, a new me. But to be honest as long as I will keep the same old habits, the same old attitude, the new year will simply result in the old me. The new year simply provides us with an opportunity to get a fresh start. A symbol if you will. Like a clock, slowly rotating till it finds itself back to the start, the months pass till we find ourselves back in January, ready to begin all over again.

Though the new year is symbolic in nature, there is power to it. So let us not be discouraged by the illusion of an automatic change but let us engage in a self-initiated improvement journey.

My motto for 2025 is to ‘act’ and ‘be active’.

After reflecting on the past year, instead of making a big list of resolutions, I have decided to adopt an attitude. Simply because almost every time I am faced with a challenge and don’t know what to do, I have the tendency to not do anything, because I’m scared of the consequences. And this gets me nowhere at all. So this year I am going to change my attitude. I believe doing something, even if its not the best thing, is still better than doing nothing.

Uff that was serious enough. Okay time for my short list of resolutions:

  • Read as much as possible

  • Focus on my studies

  • Keep up with this blog

  • Get out of the house more
